The MIH: International Watchmaking Museum

 

This grandiose space brings together nearly 4000 pieces on the theme of measuring time. From the sundial to the atomic clock, learn more about this universe that has fascinated people since the dawn of time. La Maison Blanche by Le Corbusier

 

When he was still called Jeanneret, the architect designed this house for his parents on the heights of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The first of many masterpieces, the Maison Blanche by Le Corbusier can now be visited. You will be welcomed by volunteers eager to share their knowledge of this building and its history.

MUZOO - The Bois du Petit-Château Zoo

 

The natural history museum and the zoo of La Chaux-de-Fonds are now united under the sweet name of MUZOO. Young and old alike will discover the animal park, the vivarium as well as the museum's collection of more than 2650 mammals, in whole or in part, in skeleton form, naturalised or in alcohol.
The zoo is open all year round.

Summer opening hours: daily from 8 am to 6 pm
Winter opening hours: daily from 8 am to 5 pm
The museum and vivarium will open at the end of 2022.


The Farming and Crafts Museum

 

In this former 17th century farmhouse, the voices of the peasant clockmakers who once populated the La Chaux-de-Fonds region can still be heard. If you listen carefully during your visit, you may hear their laughter, interspersed with local songs and the crackling of the fire in the fireplace. Discover their lives and their unusual trade.
 Remains of their lives are preserved in this museum.

 Opening hours: Wednesday - Sunday: 14H - 17H.


The Museum of Islamic Civilizations

 

Who expected to find such an original and contemporary museum in our beautiful city? Opened in 2016, the MUCIVI unveils fifteen centuries of history around these civilizations that have marked the world, on all aspects: political, geographical, artistic, scientific and spiritual. The visit is structured around images, videos and sounds, inviting us to live it as a full experience, thanks in particular to an audioguide translated into several languages. This museum is a real cultural jewel to be discovered urgently in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
